Readers Respond: What Are Your Dreams For Neverland?

Responses: 40

By , About.com Guide

Pop star Michael Jackson built a Disney-like fantasyland at his California home, Neverland. Now that Michael Jackson is gone, how should Neverland be used? Should the ranch become a burial place and shrine, as Graceland became for Elvis Presley? Should the amusement park rides be restored? What features or attractions would you add to Neverland? Michael's house of dreams

I have written an e-mail to someone who was close to Michael about re-opening Neverland, and the opportunities of the place. But the income from this must be given to his children and the Heal the World Foundation to bring forth his legacy and wishes. O'bee has my e-mail somewhere and I hope he knows what I am writing about. ak

Children

Neverland Valley Ranch should be a beautiful place for sick children to play.

A Museum and a Foundation

I think it should be opened as an interactive museum and exhibition of Michael's work, achievements and all things that made him special. I believe the proceeds of the museum should be split between a drug rehabilitation program and a foundation similar to "Make a wish Foundation" in honor of Michael and all he did to make dreams come true.

Build an Institute

I want to see "MJ'S" Neverland Ranch. It's a heaven on earth. It should be turned into a music & arts institute of "Michael Jackson." ~Mitra

Neverland and Museum

Although Michael loved Neverland, he never went back after the trial. However, I don't think his burial should be moved, but to restore Neverland, for the fans. Instead of people going to Disneyland, we go to Neverland. Neverland has a very strong peace there. I was recently there. The warmth of Neverland is unbelievable. I so understand why Michael moved there. Tourist and fan admissions for his birthday, holidays, and the anniversary date of his departure would pay for the up-keep, charities, and funds to the estate for his children. If there was a charge of $20.00 for adults, and $10.00 for age 5 to 12, it would be beneficial. Also, instead of selling his items (ie:gloves, jackets, statues, etc.) there should be a museum on Hollywood Blvd. for them. Remember all the charities Michael gave to.

Neverland park

I believe as a lifelong MJ fan that Neverland should be fully restored, including the animals Michael Jackson loved. Neverland was designed and created by Michael and I think he truly would have preserved his beautiful home and grounds if he had been able to spend more time there. His huge career and contract obligations made this place an overwhelming responsibility for him. I want his family to realize that this beautiful property of Micheal's should be restored and preserved as it was in its prime and made available in some way for fans to tour and view, inside and out! Michael would be so proud the resurrection of one of his biggest dreams and be at peace once again with his prized Neverland restored back to its awesome glory. Dana Broadford...fan

SayNOtoNeverland

Michael felt as if Neverland ranch was tainted after the molestation charges. He said he would never return there. If he didn't want to be there anymore, no one else should want to be there. His soul is in his heavenly home now. Neverland should stay closed. I don't think he would want any bad memories dredged up. His last days spent there were horrible ones with bad memories. The only good memories were with his children at the end.

Dream

As Michael said once, be child-like as god wanted it. I think this place should go back to his children and bring the children back in and let it be a safe place as M.J. wanted to be in the first place. Let there be good times, no bad. I would love to be a part of this, to love children of all types. I wish and dream of even seeing it in person one day.

Restore Neverland the way it was

I would want Neverland restored the way it was and have it be a place were children can be happy. I also would want a museum there for Michael and have a plaque outside of the gates saying "In Memory of Michael Jackson"

Michael Jackson (Aug 29, 1958 - Forever)

Michael Jackson loved children and said being with them connects with the deeper wisdom of life, which is always present. I really believe that he wanted children to have complete childhood, which he didn't, and he built Neverland and gave it to the children. So who are we to say no to Neverland? He has to be buried there and it has to be preserved for his family.

For the Children

Keep it for the children. Michael loved them so much. That's why he had this place built. For the children in everyone, where they can forget about everything and smile.

Neverland is Magical

It should be restored for children of all ages to enjoy. The lakes, the train, the trees....A place where we can all go and dream. That was its original and ONLY purpose. To bring happiness to a childlike heart. Also, and electrical fence to keep the dirty monsters out. (District Attorney Sneddon!)

Make it a place for Michael

Michael deserves a Graceland-like place. Neverland will be perfect. His things should be there. I'd love to visit Neverland to see what Michael dreamed and made. I think Michael should have a permanent place to remember him. His music will live forever and Neverland should as well.

Restore the playground

Restore the playground at Neverland and have sick children attend the place for entertainment.

Neverland and Michael

I think Neverland should be just what Michael wanted. A place where childhood would always be free. A museum to reflect the person that MJ was. All his items and clothing should be there as a historical landmark where his fans can visit and see in person the man that they probably never saw when he was living. A lifelike statue would be a great benefit as well. If it can be done by June 25, 2010, it would be great because I will be visiting at that time.
