My House:
I live in this house that, from what I've been told, is post-war built in 1947 or 1948. It's a two-bedroom, one-bath, single-floor home. The living room is open to the dining area and the bedrooms are toward the rear of the house. I would like to do a retro renovation on the house but I am unsure what style it actually is. It has a stucco exterior over wood. The interior walls are all lap board and stucco. The walls in the living and dining area curve up and around toward the ceiling instead of being squared off and straight or at 90 degree angles like you would find in most modern houses.
My Puzzle:
After an extensive search all over town I cannot find another house that comes close to the look of this house. Even the Spanish revival homes seem to not even come close. The roof is flat, the walls are stucco over wood, not cinder block.
I'm really just baffled as to what style you would call this house. I would like to find out what style it is called and about the year or era that it may have been built in. The reason for this is to do a restoration/renovation keeping in line with the original idea of the house. Such as colors, appliances, fixtures and the like.
Advice
- The house exterior is for the most part unchanged.
- The roof over the front door used to be flat, but had to be redone due to water leaking into the wall.
- It's hard to tell in the photo but there is a chimney on the right side of the house.
- I almost forgot to mention the shape of the house. Looking down on it, the shape is square with the left top corner cut out. You could say the house is shaped like a backwards L.
