My House:
We recently purchased this red brick home. It has a brownish roof with fudge brown trim.
My Project:
We prefer to only paint the trim, as the roof is only 2 years old. Wanting to give the home a warm, inviting appearance, that welcomes guests and gives the feel of a family type atmosphere.
I'd like to get ideas for color on the concrete retaining walls near driveway also.
Advice
- What trim colors would look best, and give the house a more cohesive look?
Jackie Craven, Architecture Guide, says:
Congratulations on the purchase of your new home! The brown trim corresponds nicely with the darker-colored bricks. I think you might find you don't need a new color scheme after you spruce up the concrete retaining walls and, possibly, also stain the wooden fence and lattice.
To soften the walls, I'd love to see ivy or other foliage. Adding greenery around your house may give you the punch of color you've been wanting. If plantings are not possible, use a concrete stain (not paint) to color the walls a subtle color such as tan (similar to the color of your roof.)
Of course, brick is compatible with many different colors, and you have lots of possibilities. Here's how one family chose colors for the trim of their brick home: Painting the trim
