My House:
My house was built in the 50s. It is a salmon colored brick with salmon colored mortar and a red roof.
My Project:
We are wanting to paint the brick. We have painted the trim red again to brighten it up after we put in new windows, and now we are ready for a new color. But we have no idea what color would look good. Painting the brick seems scary.
Advice
I would love to see other pictures of houses with similar roofs or designs. I haven't seen another house with our brick. Or ideas of colors to use on the house to go with our roof.
I've suggested ideas for another reader's house (link):
Jackie Craven, Architecture Guide, says:
Don't be scared! The wonderful thing about paint is you can try out small areas before you cover the whole house. With the red roof, your house begs for Southwestern hues. You may not find many examples of red metal roofs like yours, but many homes in the American Southwest, Mexico, and the Mediterranean have red tile roofs. How about painting your brick a warm, earthy color like cream, yellow-brown, tan, or harvest gold? Notice the color schemes used on these houses:
- Cream With Red Tile Roof
- 2 Houses With Red Tile Roofs (The house on the far left is harvest gold. The house in the center is painted off-white.)
- Cream With Dark Red Trim
- Pale Gold With Red Tile Roof
