About My House
Built in Michigan in 1929. We wonder if it is a 'kit' home, one of the larger ones. Only four owners, and one of them is us.
Cape Cod Features
Two dormers in back, three in front, if you count the vestibule. Four windows next to each other, in front of house. Pitch on roof is unreal. Built- in cabinets in almost all rooms, including storage seats in dormers, and elegant corner cabinets in dining room. Cove ceilings. Leaded glass in several windows. Beautiful wood from the floors on up. Lovely staircases. Brick foundation. Stone basement. French doors from DR to LR. Glass doorknobs. Fireplace and mantel run the length of the LR. Arched entries into LR, and so much more.
Lessons Learned
- Never climb a roof like ours.
- Never think you'll ever be done renovating.
- Stay true to period of home when doing the above.
