About My Old House
My home is an 1830 historic antebellum style plantation home. It has not had any updating, that I know of.
It is in Gates, North Carolina.
Favorite Details
I love the hardwood floors throughout the house and the large areas. It has a beautiful full-length windows and so much detail was done in the construction of the house. You have room to store items, closets and cubbies are everywhere. I now have room for my sewing room where before I had to lug everything out, start a project, and then put everything away before dinner could be started. Now I have a room where I save so much time; I can work on a project and then leave it. I have room for when the family wants to visit and we don't feel cramped. There is a room just for the grandchildren when they visit. Because of the spacious area we have set up one of the living rooms for the children to play while we are in another room; we now have that option.
Lessons Learned

- Take your time, research and ask for help.
