About My Bungalow

These two Bungalows were built in 1935 in Mesa, AZ. They are each 600 square feet with one bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, and living room. There are no hallways. They have gable roofs with a roof canopy over the entry.

This simple bungalow style illustrates the transition of styles to the minimal traditional, popular from the Great Depression to the end of World War II. They are wood frame construction with exposed rafters and double hung wooden windows. Underneath is a crawl space with entry through the floor.

Favorite Details

I like the small size, the kitchen cabinets, the linen closet, and the wood floors. These two homes represent two different Bungalow styles on the same property and built at the same time. Both houses are located in a Historical District. They are being renovated so that they can be registered. Neither house has had any additions added. They are in the original appearance and materials as when they were first built.

Lessons Learned

  • Move only what you need.
  • It's time to go back to the basics of living.
