About My Bungalow

This Nebraska home was previously owned by a family of seven that owned the local restaurant. I met an old man that was mowing next door, he told me his dad helped build the house in 1918 from used lumber. I must say the home is very well built.

Favorite Details

I love the overall look. Very homey and warm the eaves are my favorite outside. The fir woodwork and floors are all original and unpainted. There is a full 8.5 ft basement underneath. The windows are all original double hung w 3 pains on the upper. I need to replace them with more efficient double pane windows....soon. The stairway leading upstairs is nice, simple and is showcased by the front window. It's perfect at Christmas time with the tree in the front window and the stockings all hung on the stairway behind. We love it. It has been ours for 17 years now. I thank the folks who took care building her and all the families that took care of her before me. It's only mine for a brief time, I will keep her until the next is ready to move in, or possibly one of my kids.

Lessons Learned

  • Smaller homes are nice for close family interactions. Make sure you have a good foundation and solid roof. Everything else can be filled in and fixed.
