About My Bungalow

We just bought this Craftsman bungalow in Fort Smith, Arkansas this month.

This house is located about 3 blocks from the Belle Grove Historic District here in Fort Smith, where the majority of the homes were built around the turn-of-the-century or before.

I don't have any idea when it was built, but from research I have done online, I think the house was built in the late '20s or early '30s. Any help finding out the age of our house would be greatly appreciated!

Favorite Details

I love the deep wide front porch, the built-ins in the living room on either side of the fireplace and the kitchen, the 10 foot high ceilings and the creaky wood floors.

To be honest, everything about the house is just my style--or will be when we complete the restoration.

Lessons Learned

  • We haven't had time to learn a lesson, but we are looking forward to working on restoring our house as much as we can on a budget.

Congratulations on the purchase of your bungalow! Since it is a bungalow in an older neighborhood, you are probably right in guessing that the home was built in the late 1920s or early 1930s. For more tips on dating an older home, see How Old Is Your House?
