Students from Virginia emphasized energy-efficient lighting when they designed their solar-powered Lumenhaus. The house functions like a pavilion with sliding walls made of glass. An array of photovoltaic (PV) panels is arranged so that both sides of the panels can capture solar energy.
Lumenhaus was exhibited at the 2009 Solar Decathlon in Washington DC and won the 2010 Solar Decathlon Europe held in Madrid.
