"We don't want you giving us anything like that house you did for Winslow," Nathan Moore told the young Frank Lloyd Wright. "I don't fancy sneaking down back streets to my morning train just to avoid being laughed at."
Needing money, Wright agreed to build the house in a style he found "repugnant" - Tudor Revival. A fire destroyed the upper floor of the house, and Wright built a new version in 1923. However, he retained its Tudor flavor.
