March 2005
Red Lake Indian Reservation, Minnesota
A grandfather and his companion were shot on the quiet reservation, poulation 5,000. The shooting rampage continued at the high school. Nine people died, including the teenaged gunman.
April 1999
Littleton, Colorado
An affluent suburb near Denver. Population about 35,000. Fifteen dead, twenty-three wounded at the recently remodeled Columbine High School.
May 1998
Springfield, Oregon
A lush valley with wooded subdivisions and quiet blue collar neighborhoods. Population about 51,000. One killed and nineteen wounded in the gray-green Thurston High School building. Parents killed in their gingerbread-trimmed A-frame home.

Edinboro, Pennsylvania
An upscale community of about 7,700. Teacher shot at James W. Parker Middle School.

Jonesboro, Arkansas
A town of about 50,000 with quiet suburban streets. Five killed., ten wounded at Westside Middle School.

West Paducah, Kentucky
Population about 27,000. Three killed, five wounded at Heath High School.
