Rafi's House Horror Tale

Readers share their building and remodeling nightmares

By Jackie Craven, About.com Guide

(Continued from House Horror Tales)

Rafi Writes:

Three years ago, we bought a house in the Hollywood Hills area in Southern California. A year after we moved in, we started hearing these noises in the master bathroom which is located on the second story. The noise sounds like a wood crackling and sometimes as if somebody hitting a piece of wood with a piece of metal. The noise sometimes is loud enough to wake us up.

It has been a nightmare. We sought the help of structural engineers, architects, soil engineers, home inspectors....you name it, we tried it without any results. We are really desperate at this point, the noise is not only persistent but it is increasing. This has been going on for two years.

If anyone out there has faced dealt or heard of a similar problem, or think can help us solve this mystery please post a reply.

DESPERATELY waiting for a response. Thanks a million in advance.
