The New World Trade Center Proposals
Summer, 2002
After many months of discussion and debate, planners have unveiled six proposals for rebuilding on "Ground Zero," the World Trade Center site. Created by the firms Beyer Blinder Belle and Parsons Brinckerhoff, the World Trade Center designs combine ideas drawn from numerous sources and reflect many concessions and compromises. Critics say the World Trade Center proposals lack originality, while supporters point out that they are merely works-in-progress. Ongoing public debate will play an important role in shaping the future of New York's Lower Manhattan.
