Mystery House #39
Alabama Duplex

Historic Duplex in Alabama
Photo courtesy the homeowner -- Published with permission.

Robbie from Alabama sends us this mystery:

"We are currently purchasing a duplex built in 1928 that is easily converted to a single family home. We aren't sure if it is a California/Craftsman Bungalow or not. The exterior is stucco and though it was originally built as a duplex, it only has one main entrance with a foyer and stairs. The back entrances are the only area that makes it obvious it was a duplex in the beginning (and old records as well).

It is located in the Twickenham historic district in Huntsville, AL. We would love to find pictures of similarly styled homes so we can stay original. It looks as if it originally had awnings over the windows.

What colors would be permissible, etc.? What can you tell us about this style and where can we find more like it! Help?!!!"

Can you describe the style of this home? Do you have ideas on how it might have looked in 1928? Use this easy form to send your comments and ideas.
