Bruce from Ontario sends us this mystery:
My wife and I have just purchased the home in the photo (closing at the end of September). It is located in the Beach area of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It's a 1 1/2 story frame with a poured concrete foundation. The layout is a "centre hall" (just staircase - no hall really) with the living room on the right, the dining room on the left, and an eat-in kitchen behind the dining room. Upstairs are 3 bedrooms and a bath.
The vendor told us the house was built in 1906 by an English architect (name not known), who also designed a semi-detached frame house backing onto our property. The real estate agent advertised the house as a "Cape Cod" however I suspect that given some of the architectural details - the bay windows, structural bracket supports beside the front door - it has some other influences. After a fairly extensive search on the net - looking for architectural styles such as English Cottage, Cape Cod, Arts and Crafts - the closest description I could find was a Cape Cod "Williamsburg."
Any information/opinions you can offer would be appreciated.
