Anita LaForte and John S. Onofrey know that their home is a Victorian. But Victorian is not actually a style, but a time of history. Houses built during the Victorian era took on many forms. What style of Victorian is this beauty?
More Questions from Anita:
"I wondered if you could direct me to some research sources where I could find out all the names of the people who have ever owned my home. Plus I was told that Garrison either designed or built it but I'd like to know for sure and also to get more info on him. I'm told that the house was built in 1870 so I don't know if these kinds of records even exist.
We were very lucky that the house was kept in fantastic original condition. 98% of the wood work is unpainted. The exterior is still natural wood. Also there is a carriage house that is in excellent condition. There are 4 fireplaces, butler's pantry, hardwood floors, stained glass and beveled windows, Widow's watch, pocket doors, chandeliers, a fabulous candlestick spindle staircase and more. The house is located on 3 acres of property in the village of Walden, NY which is pretty amazing since most of these houses are set on postage stamp sized properties these days."
