The Mystery   |  Answers From Readers

From Bobby:

Since your house is Southwestern/Pueblo style, how about one of those rough log roofs which sometimes look canilevered from the building? This is typical of flat-roofed Pueblo buildings.

A similar look would be a shed dormer made of rough logs rather than regular lumber with matching tile on top. With these designs, you could either scrap the stucco porch surround or incorporate it into the design with stucco arches.

Another idea is to extend the stucco porch surround to include the arches and have a flat roof with tile wall caps.

Look at books and mags on the Southwest and Southwestern style for ideas. The best designs will incorporate elements already present in your own house.
