From Portland's Past

From DZ:

"This is NOT an 'Old Portland' style house. There are 100s of 'Old Portland' style houses here but they are all American Foursquare architecture."

From Cate:

"It looks a lot like our house, which was built in 1930 and is what I have assumed to be Folk Victorian, although it's a bit late for that period. Maybe they're both Craftsman Bungalows.

"Our house has 1.5 stories, the dormer windows, the steep-pitched roofs and the large front porch, although my porch has wood columns and 2x2 posts as railings.

"Our house also has the detached garage, with matching siding (lapped wood siding with curved edges). Our home has a large entry/living room, living room/parlor, dining room, bedroom, bath and kitchen on the first floor.

"The second floor has 3 bedrooms and one super-large closet space or small bedroom, which would make a great second bath. We also have a full basement and two back porches (one off the basement). I can't find much in the Craftsman style to match our house, either!"
