1920s Stucco

The Mystery   |  Reader Responses

From Jeff Wolf:

Fantastic bugalow of Southern California -- c. 1920s. Although new roof has been installed -- small home still exuding stylish living dominant in that era -- it's a winner.

From Jasmine:

It looks like a Tudor style house with Mission influence.

From Duchess:

More than likely you have a Tudor of some variation. The clues lie in the archways shown in the interior photo, the date it was built (Depression era), stucco exterior and stucco archway off the side of the house. And by the way, I'd strongly urge you to keep as much of the original plaster as you can rather than falling into the wallboard trap. It's not as difficult to preserve as you'd think. Bob Yapp of "About Your House" (public tv series) had a wonderful show all about preserving plaster. You could try finding his book or consult with home improvement websites such as "This Old House" or Bob Vila's "Home Again" which are geared to older homes.

From Your Guide:

I would bet that this home reflects the surge of interest in Spanish styles that took the country by storm in the 1920s. For facts and photos, see Inspired by Spain.
