Victorian Mystery

The Mystery | Reader Responses

From Nancy Marron, Victorian Station :

"The house has Queen Anne influences with the decorative appliqués, but the simplicity of the roof line and lack of a wrap around porch leads me to think it may be a Four Square Victorian." -

Thanks, Nancy!
By the way, Nancy's Victorian Station Web site includes a helpful overview of Victorian architecture.

From John Patterson :

"I believe the mystery house style is Victorian Tudor."

From Robyn O'Neill :

"Queen Anne, with a bit of Colonial Revival and what looks like Arts and Crafts-inspired interiors."

From Anonymous:

"I'm guessing the house has gothic revival and folk influences (not as elaborate as a Queen Anne would be; hence the folk)"

From Lana J. Hunt:

"The gable trusses of the #2 house are elaborate and this indicates for me, anyway, that it is Gothic Revival. I noted, also, the geometric shaped areas about the windows. This also indicates Gothic Revival."

From Your Guide :

I think it's a true Folk Victorian. Read about the style... then tell us your views. Use this easy form to send your comments and ideas.
