Palladio designed more than twenty villas on the Venetian mainland. It's no accident that the Rotunda resembles the Roman Pantheon. Palladio's design reflected the humanist values of the Renaissance period. The plan for the Rotunda is symmetrical with a temple porch in front and a domed interior. The name Rotunda refers to the villa's circle within a square design.
