"Trying to pin down a house in Camp Hill, Alabama. It was built in 1892 by the town doctor, HT Hamner. It is close to 3,000 sq ft with twelve foot ceilings. There are several houses built with the same material in the area; some are undeniably Folk Victorian but this one leaves me wondering. It has some features that seem more Craftsman Bungalow and Cape Cod.

"It has a high pitched, metal roof with little overhang. The front porch wraps around the front and half way down one side. The front door leads into a large entry the size of a living room with original transom over the facing doorway leading into the interior hallway. Tri-fold hard wood doors lead off to the left to a parlor and what was once a dining room, the door that one lead to the kitchen having since been sealed off and the dining room made into a master bedroom.

"The hall ends into a large den which was once divided into two rooms making the house very symetrical. The back porch is recessed and forms a small veranda. There is also a sleeping porch upstairs with a balcony and a canning room off the veranda.

"The house was renovated several times in the early 1900's while occupied by the original owner. The house has some wood work inside but the exterior is plain with no ornamentation. It is roughly rectangular, about 40' by 70'." ~Chris
