A Box By Another Name Is... ?

"A box by another name is... Still a box?? This is the first picture of the finished house in 1907. I have never seen another house like this. The hip roof is unusual here in Western Colorado, except on the old schoolhouses.

"The house is quite plain, except for scrolled rafters under the eaves, diamond panes in windows, some pretty built-in corner china cabinets.

"It wasn't exactly a bargain basement house at the time either. The old newspaper here stated that Dr. Porter built it with state-of-the-art features, such as a forced air furnace, and that he spent $6000 to build it.
