In the early 1920s, the Chicago Tribune wanted to build the "most beautiful office building in the world." Yet, out of all the proposals submitted to their competition, they selected a conservative Neo-Gothic design by architects Raymond Hood and John Howells. Why Neo-Gothic? From the Forum: "I bought a house built in 1946 that has been covered with vinyl siding. I am wondering if the vinyl should be removed or left intact. I don't care for the color and there are several places where the vinyl has been damaged. Any thoughts?"
