Honest Abe: Master Remodeler?

Before he transformed the nation, Abraham Lincoln took on another type of renovation. Under his direction, the Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois changed from a modest 1½-story cottage into the 2-story homestead we see today. The family left Springfield for the White House, but probably intended to return to their remodeled home. Unfortunely, history had other plans.

The Lincoln Home in Springfield, Illinois is now a National Historic Site open to visitors. What a great way to honor the President's birthday, February 12.
