It may take years before coastal communities rebuild from the 2012 destruction of Hurricane Sandy. Research tells us that concrete buildings have the best chance of surviving hurricane-force wind and rain, but not everyone wants to live in a
monolithic dome home.
Other options exist. Homes constructed with insulated concrete forms come in many shapes and sizes, and the sturdy concrete construction can withstand storm-force wind and destructive floods. Consider that many bridges are made from concrete.
