May is National Preservation Month in the USA and this year the theme is Old is the New Green. Turns out that older buildings aren't merely lovely or historic. They also protect the environment by minimizing waste. And those drafty Victorian houses? They're more efficient than you'd think.

For example, did you know that wooden windows are "greener" than vinyl? Wood is a natural insulator, and wood windows also last much longer. Plus, fixing old wooden windows costs a lot less than installing new vinyl windows. Here's a technical report that tells how to repair wood windows.
