Would You Live in Glass House?
Monday July 13, 2009
In photos, Philip Johnson's glass house in Connecticut looks a lot like the glass-walled Farnsworth House that Mies van der Rohe built in Plano, Illinois. But in real life they are very different. Apparently Mies refused to stay in the house that Johnson made. And then, of course, Edith Farnsworth claimed that Mies van der Rohe's glass house was unlivable.
For great photos of Johnson's glass house, with commentary by Architecture critic Witold Rybczynski, see If You Live in a Glass House in Slate.
Would you enjoy living there? Tell us!
