Born on June 21: Paolo Soleri

Sunday June 21, 2009
Born in 1919, architect and visionary Paolo Soleri worked with Frank Lloyd Wright in the 1940s, but went on to develop his own ideas. Soleri coined the term "arcologies" to describe his unique, eco-friendly environments. Since 1970, builders have been creating Arcosanti, an experimental desert community designed according to Soleri's ideas with lots of greenhouses, solar buildings, and accessible spaces.
