Born on June 17: Charles Eames

Wednesday June 17, 2009
Charles Eames (1907 - 1978) and his wife Ray Eames were among America's most important designers. In addition to their elegant and practical furniture designs, the Charles and Ray Eames partnership helped design affordable housing for veterans returning to the United States after World War II.

Houses designed by the Eames featured high-quality materials that were mass produced for efficiency and affordability.
