It took a billion dollars, but the infamous Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel has been resurrected. Built in 1954, the Fontainebleau was designed to fool the eyes and stun the senses. "I used every trick in the book," architect Morris Lapidus said of his flamboyant, curvy creation.
Now, after a massive renovation and the construction of two new towers, the Fontainebleau is even more glamorous than it was when it stared in the James Bond film, Goldfinger. There's just one problem. Can anyone afford to stay there?
