Happy Birthday, Louis Sullivan

Wednesday September 3, 2008
Wainwright Building Detail September 3 is the birthday of Louis Sullivan, who is often called America's first truly modern architect. Born in 1856, Sullivan helped pioneer the American skyscraper. He created a "Sullivanesque" style that changed the face of architecture and inspired the work of his student, Frank Lloyd Wright.
