Tornado Strikes the Georgia Dome

The Georgia Dome It's no wonder that the tornado that struck Atlanta, Georgia this weekend poked some holes in the famous domed roof of the Georgia Dome. The tornado winds blew down a wall at the Georgia World Congress Center and shattered windows at the Omni Hotel. Amazingly, the Teflon-coated fiberglass panels on the domed roof of the Georgia Dome didn't cave in.

The Georgia Dome claims fame as the world's largest stadium with a dome supported by cables. Heavy rains damaged the roof a few years after the Georgia Dome was built, but structural problems were corrected and, so far, so good.
