Angry About Angkor
Wednesday July 11, 2007
Angkor, Cambodia is the largest sacred temple complex in the world, and was a finalist in the campaign to select the New 7 Wonders of the World. But, when the final votes were tallied, this 40-mile stretch of sacred architecture did not make the final cut. I'm mad and perplexed. Can we have a recount?

Dear ‘Mad and Perplexed’,
Putting this sacred temple complex on the map would have it overrun by massive amounts of people. The area is not set up to handle thousands upon thousands of tourists. The sacred would become profane and this delicate and precious architecture would become a mass of ruins. Fine by me if it stays off the list of “New 7 Wonders”.
