Louis Sullivan Turns 150
Sunday September 3, 2006
September 3 is the birthday of Louis Sullivan, who is often called America's first truly modern architect. Born 150 years ago, he helped pioneer the American skyscraper. Sullivan created a "Sullivanesque" style that changed the face of architecture and inspired the work of his student, Frank Lloyd Wright.
To celebrate Louis Sullivan's 150th birthday, the Chicago History Museum is leading a series of lectures, symposia, tours, classes, films, and other events.
