Brad Pitt Goes Green

Wednesday July 19, 2006
Movie star Brad Pitt has always wanted to be an architect, but when people say he's green, they don't mean green with envy. The star of Fight Club, Ocean's Eleven, Troy, and other box office hits has teamed up with Global Green USA, a national environmental organization, to sponsor a Sustainable Design Competition for New Orleans.

A "green" building is one that is economical, energy-saving, and environmentally-friendly. Green architecture is sustainable because it provides needed shelter without depleting natural resources. Designing green architecture for New Orleans is a way to protect and preserve the fragile environment.

The Sustainable Design Competition has received some 3,000 entrants, and judges have narrowed the choices down to these six green designs. The final vote will be announced at the end of August - the one year anniversary of Katrina's wrath on the Gulf Coast.

Brad Pitt, interviewed on NBC, has invested $100,000 in the competition.

(2) Victoria Davis says:

I would like to contact Brad Pitt and get his thoughts about a publication (using recycled paper) that would be sponsored by and created by celebrities. A publication that is run only by “the stars.” So many companies going belly up but not ESQUIRE, STAR….etc magazines. What if…what if the “stars” created their own publication. Please pass this on to the appropriate people. V.Davis at vdavis321@comcast.net (home: 505-867-9723) Help please!
