When James Vandenberg, an architect for the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism, was called to active duty with the US Marines, he became a "combat architect" in Iraq. In AIA Architect, Lt. Vandenberg shares photos and plans for a military compound, a fortress, and a hospital.
