Giving Architecture

Wednesday November 24, 2004
The holiday season is a good time to express appreciation for the most fundamental architecture in our lives: the buildings the provide our basic shelter. The humanitarian organization Mercy Corps lets you honor friends, family, and co-workers with meaningful gifts called Mercy Kits. Each kit comes in the form of a personalized greeting card letting your recipient know that a contribution has been made in his or her name. Mercy Kits of special interest to architecture enthusiasts include:
• Shelter Kit - Provide shelter for families in Indonesia
• School-Building Kit - Renovate and re-equip a school in Central Asia
• Winter Survival Kit - Help a vulnerable family in Eastern Europe keep warm with firewood, a wood stove, and clothing
