Skyscrapers Hit the Headlines

The sky's the limit in China, where Cesar Pelli's new glass and steel tower, Two International Finance Centre (Two IFC), has become the tallest building in Hong Kong. Across Victoria Harbour, plans are underway to construct an 108 floor building that could be the tallest in the world. Meanwhile in the United States, builders and engineers are asking whether the building boom has gone bust.

Given current market conditions and worries about terrorism, will Americans lose their lust for lofty towers? How tall can we go, and which country will be next to erect the world's highest building?
