Frank Lloyd Wright
borrowed $5,000 from his employer, Louis Sullivan, to build the home where he
began his married life, raised six children and launched his career in architecture.
Built in the Shingle Style, the house was very different from the Prairie Style
architecture he pioneered. Wright's home was always in transition because he
remodeled as his design theories changed. He expanded the main house in 1895,
and added a studio in 1898.
